Abstract This study presents the development of a domestically designed reactor coolant pump (RCP) motor for the OPR1000 nuclear power plants. The motor is designed based on electromagnetic analysis to satisfy the required performance despite the reinforced insulation. Furthermore, rotor dynamics analysis is performed to verify the mechanical reliability of the rotor assembly. The analysis results are validated through manufacturing a prototype and experimental testing.
