Abstract |
The squirrel cage induction motors are most often used for driving rotating loads in industrial fields with high efficiency and have the disadvantage of high starting current during initial startup. Hence, the double squirrel cage induction motors are used to reduce high starting current and obtain high torque during startup. It is very difficult to obtain the transient or steady state characteristics under the actual load condition using the parameters on the manufacturer’s nameplate because the most of induction motors are operated with less than rated output load and the parameters are given at the conditions of the rated output. In this paper, the calculation method of the parameters in the equivalent circuit diagram of double squirrel cage induction motor is presented and the transient and steady state characteristics of the three induction motors are analyzed using the parameters and electromagnetic transients program to verify the presented calculation method. |
