Jongโ€‘Gyeum Kim received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Dong-A University, Busan, Korea, in 1984, and M.S, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Chungnam National University in 1991 and 1996, respectively.

In 1987, he worked at KT, and from 1988 to 1996, he worked at K-water.

He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2013 to 2014 and the University of Idaho from 2022 to 2023.

He has been working at Gangneung-Wonju National University since 1996. His research interests include the design and implementation of Energy conversion system and power quality. He is a fellow member of the KIEE.
